Univariate Choropleth Maps

This type of map only shows one type of variable. This map is showing an explanation of distributing gallons of gas over each state.
Standardized Choropleth Maps

This map uses the population density of certain area to arrange data. The map also uses quantiles to seperate information.
Dot Distribution Map

Dot Distribution maps use dots to plot data over a certain field. This map used the United States as its field with blue dots of different size. The data was taken for the number of cell phone towers in the area.
Planimetric Map

This type of map is a 2D overhead view over a certain area of land. The color depends on the person who makes the map. The one above shows a place called the Soho Foundry. There are multiple buildings of different sizes and shapes. This map also seems almost hand written.
Cadastral Map

The Cadastral Map above gives a break down of survey done over certain area of land. Usually these types of maps are used in real estate to find houses, or to set boundaries for each house's property.
